Sierra Dachshund Breeders Club of Los Angeles Co and dachshund community lost a dear friend and member, Merilynn Hurd. Merrilyn was a member of this club for 20+ years, having served as President, Show Chair and Challenge Trophy Chair for several of those years. Merilynn was never without a beautiful smile and a generous. hug. Always with a positive outlook and attitude, she was always willing to help anyone whenever asked. Her knowledgable, guidance, and suggestions will forever be appreciated. In more recent years she had many physical challenges but she never complained. Her vivacious, positive outlook never seemed to waver. SIERRA was honored to have her attend our 2025 October Specialties as a competitor as well as present the Marylou Harris Breeder of the Best of Breed Challenge Trophy on both days. This Challenge Trophy was donated by Merilynn and Don Ingamells in honor of Marylou Harris who passed in 2014. Marylou was also a very dedicated, long-standing member of Sierra for many years. Our October 2026 Specialties will be dedicated in honor of Merilynn as well as our 2027 independent Specialty with Kennel Club of Palm Springs. Our club is humbled and honored to have several items from Merilynn's estate that will be presented as awards at our shows. Merilynn's friendship and contributions to our breed and club will be missed. |
